FAFSA on the Web The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Used to apply for all forms of federal aid and most forms of need-based aid.
Personal Identification Number (PIN) The Personal Identification Number is a federally provided identification number that allows the student and/or parent to submit their signature electronically. The PIN is used for electronic transmission of the FAFSA, accessing the National Student Loan Database System (NSLDS), and for eletronic signing of loan applications.
National Student Loan Database System (NSLDS) The National Student Loan Database System (NSLDS) is the US Department of Education's central database for student aid. You can use the website to make inquires about your Title IV loans and/or Pell grants. The website displays information on loan and/or grant amounts, outstanding balances, loan statuses and disbursements. The NSLDS Student Access website is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In order to use the NSLDS Student Access website, you will need to provide your Social Security number (SSN), the first two digits of your last name, your Date of Birth and your PIN.
Where are My Student Loans The National Student Clearinghouse, a non-profit organization founded by the higher education community, streamlines the student record verification process for colleges and universities, students and alumni, lending institutions, employers, the US Department of Education and other organizations. The Clearinghouse maintains a comprehensive electronic registry of student records that provides a single, automated point-of-contact for organizations and individuals requiring timely, accurate verification of student enrollment, degree, and loan data.
