Lucasfilm Animation Guest Speakers
On Thursday, November 10th at 7:00PM at Cogswell College we will host a couple of amazing guests who work at Lucasfilm Animation and will talk about CG and Live Action Pre-Production!
Our first guest Adam Holmes has been a filmmaking professional for 15 years, with a career spanning live action production, commercial and music video animation, software development, feature film pre-visualization and story layout. Adam is a graduate of the film school at Columbia College in Chicago, and his love of classic cartoons, sci-fi movies and passion for cinematography influenced his career path. His first break in animation was in 1996 as a lighting/FX artist at Big Idea studios in Chicago, creators of "Veggie Tales." In an abrupt, but positive career move, Adam traveled the world for Discreet/Autodesk demonstrating software and training clients on the latest 3D tools and techniques. He then moved into visual effects and previz combining his knowledge of live action cinematography and CG production. He was a previz supervisor and VFX camera assistant for "Superman Returns" and a co-Director of Photography for TMNT. Adam is now working at LucasFilm Animation.

And our second guest Chris Sherrod had a love of animation stretching all the way back to infancy. Saturday Mornings in front of the TV was where he was introduced to the greats like Chuck Jones and Tex Avery. He persued art in school but quickly came to the realization that drawing something that looked like something was hard and soon found himself working in Graphic Design because things that don't look like things exactly is called "Style". Animation seemed to be beyond his grasp. That all changed in 1997 when Toy Story showed him Drawing was uneccessary to create Animation. The light dawned and he found himself in beautiful Las Colinas, TX doing Final Layout for DNA Productions' production of Jimmy Neutron. His name firmly ensconced in light, he was hooked and jumped in with both feet because animation that doesn't look like Animation is called "Story".
