Listed in the “Who’s Who among America’s Teachers,” Reid Winfrey provides instruction in Fine Arts and is a coordinator of Entertainment Design Concentration at Cogswell. He earned his BA with honors from the University of California, Davis, and also studied at Sheffield City Polytechnic in Sheffield, England, and San Jose State University where he earned his MFA.

His works have been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the United States, Japan and England, and he’s been featured in articles appearing in Artweek, Art Digest, Peninsula Magazine, Art Now, San Jose Mercury News, San Francisco Chronicle, The Palo Alto Sun, Denver Homes Magazine, and others.

In addition to his love of academia and the arts, Reid says “I’m a surfer, not the web kind, the real kind. I’ve been surfing since 1976. I’m also a certified diver.” He also likes to take in a book by Anne Lamott, David Sedaris, and Patrick O’Brian. Reid also enjoys foreign and big-budget action films, including anything by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. “My all time favorite movie at the moment is ‘Team America, World Police’.”

Reid also carries memberships with the San Jose Museum, the San Jose Institute for Contemporary Art, the DeAnza Museum, the Triton Museum, the San Jose Art League, and Works Gallery. He is also affiliated with such organizations as the College Artists of America and Phi Kappa Phi National Honors Society.
