Degrees at a Distance Program
Dr. Younes Mourchid serves Cogswell College as Associate Professor and as Director of Degree at a Distance Programs–Fire Science. With a Fulbright Scholarship awarded by the Moroccan-American Commission for Educational and Cultural Exchange, he attended Southern Illinois University to earn a double Master degree in Applied Linguistics and Speech Communication. Younes then went on to the University of Southern California to earn a Ph.D. in International Development Education. While at USC, Younes was an Assistant Lecturer at the American Language Institute, the Coordinator of the Writing Center, and a participant in the esteemed Presidential Fellow Program whereby he earned a Certificate of Transformational Leadership under the mentorship of Warren Bennis.

Prior to joining Cogswell, he was Coordinator/ Director of Tutoring Services at Diablo Valley College, and an Adjunct Faculty at the University of California. Dr. Mourchid continues to serve Newsweek Foreign Language Editions as an Editor and several International NGO as a consultant and a volunteer. In his free time, Dr. Mourchid enjoys swimming, cycling, writing, reading, traveling and the company of open-minded and soul-searching individuals.
