Here at Cogswell, it is our mission in Student Life
to provide a housing program that creates a safe, supportive
and inclusive living-learning community that fosters the
academic success and personal growth of each resident student
through purposeful programs and services that compliments the
educational experience at Cogswell Polytechnical College.
We encourage you to make the most of your experience in
the apartment complex. Get to know the resident assistant staff
living in the apartment complex. They are there to help you and
watch out for your best interests. Get involved! Learn as much
as you can from the people living around you. Take advantage of
activities and programs offered in the apartment complex.

Resident Assistants (RAs) are integral to the successful functioning of the Residential Life and Housing program. RAs are student leaders who have been trained to provide guidance and support to all students living in College sponsored housing. There is always an RA on call to assist with any issues that may arise within the apartment. RAs host a variety of social programs throughout each semester so that students are given the opportunity to engage with other resident students.

Where is School-Sponsored Housing located?
Students are housed at one of eight local apartment complexes. Complexes located in San Jose are: Aire, Crescent Village, North Park, 121 Tasman, and The Verdant. Complexes located in Sunnvale are: Eaves of Sunnyvale and Windsor by Mission Pointe. All eight complexes offer 2 bedroom apartments in San Jose or Sunnyvale. These complexes are no more than 8 miles from campus and the campus is less than 1/4 mile from the Baypointe and Tasman Light Rail stations. The apartments have ample storage, assigned parking, pool, fitness room, and washers and dryers in each apartment.
What's included in my housing fee & in the apartment?
Each student housing package consists of rent for the
term (4 months); furniture (twin bed, dresser, nightstand,
desk, sofa and chair, dining table with chairs, and lamps.);
electricity (up to $100 per month); water and sewer; and an
RA program (peer mentoring, free student activities, etc.).
Students are responsible for making their own phone, internet,
and cable TV arrangements.
What is the Cost of Student Housing?
Housing fees for each term are due at registration.
The price for housing is $4,250 per semester.
Eligible students are guaranteed a space in a shared
room. Students with special concerns should inform the
Housing Office when applying for student housing.
A $100 non-refundable Housing Application Fee is required of all housing
students and must be sent in full with the housing
application in order to reserve a space. If you are
unable to provide this fee at the time of application,
please contact the Housing Office and a deferment may be

To make your Housing Deposit using Pay Pal, please follow these steps:
- Go to paypal.com and create an individual Pay Pal account
- Send a payment of $100 to email@example.com – please reference the students first and last name in the payment memo
- Send a copy or screen shot of the Pay Pal receipt to firstname.lastname@example.org
Upon check out, apartment condition will be assessed. Any damages found to be the result of student behavior or to be in excess of what would be considered the normal “wear and tear” of the space will be assessed to the responsible party. Damages that result from all students in residence will be divided accordingly. Any appeals to student damage charges should be submitted in writing to the Dean of Students within 1 week of the charge posting to the student account.
Who is Eligible for Student Housing?
All students are eligible for student housing as long
as you are enrolled in at least 9 credits in the Fall and
Spring semesters. Summer housing is also available regardless
if you are enrolled in summer classes but you must be registered
for classes the upcoming Fall semester. In order to make the
transition to college a little less stressful, Student Life
housing for students at any time during your academic
years at Cogswell.
