Digital Motion Picture Portfolio Requirement

A portfolio of your best work must accompany your Cogswell College Digital Motion Picture application. Please choose from one of the following to send as a sample of your work:

  1. Original Film: fiction or documentary on VHS tape only
  2. A short story, treatment or excerpt from a novel
  3. Script (if longer than 20 pages, send a sample scene)
  4. Website that you have designed or authored content
  5. Original photography (please do not send originals; color copies are preferred)


As part of the portfolio requirements, an additional essay question must be completed. Respond to ONE of the following questions in a 500 word essay:

  1. What do you think is the social significance of film in modern society?
  2. How do you see technology as affecting visual means to tell a story?
  3. What movie best portrays your world view and how does it accomplish this?
  4. A crayon, a fishing rod, and a can of beer are being chased down the street by a bunch of muffins. Why? (This question can also be answered in a script format if your portfolio is NOT a script.)
