Message from the Dean of the College:
What Does a Cogswell Polytechnical College Education Mean?
Visitors to the Cogswell Polytechnical College campus are often struck by the uninhibited creativity they encounter once they enter our midst. It is more than the impression that Cogswell students receive good instruction, which they do. It is more than the fact that Cogswell students are talented and motivated, which they are. Cogswell College offers unqualified support and validation to students to create, to learn and to display their ability. Cogswell students know that their effort and originality will be recognized and appreciated. They know that for their creative projects they will have access to the resources they need to do their best work. Finally, they know that the fruits of their labor will count toward a professional career because of Cogswell’s tradition of industry focus.
The faculty at Cogswell work hard to provide an effective curriculum for preparing students for professional careers. Our classes are small and students receive both encouragement and candid critique. The college invests heavily in new equipment and software to stay abreast of rapidly changing technologies. We employ part-time instructors from a wide range of local industries to provide up-to-date information in both digital art and engineering. We also insure that our students acquire a strong foundation in math and science, the humanities, and the social sciences, through innovative courses linking these essential subjects to the students chosen specializations. These attributes of a fine education are all essential, but the most important part of a Cogswell education is that Cogswell empowers its students to realize their dreams and create, whether it is 3D Animation, 3D Modeling, Game Design, Entertainment Design, Digital Audio, Digital Motion Picture, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Digital Arts Engineering. We provide instruction that builds students’ skill sets, we provide a supportive environment, and we provide constructive critique. The students provide the rest.
